Get Help with Citizenship

Instead of renewing your lawful permanent residency (green card), why don’t you apply for citizenship?

For a limited time, you can complete your application with the UFW Foundation for FREE in California!

Our bilingual team of attorneys and Department of Justice accredited representatives are authorized to provide legal counsel on immigration matters.

With the UFW Foundation, we explain the process, assist with completing the application, and help those who qualify to apply for fee waivers.

Having your citizenship allows you to:

  • Vote
  • Have your family immigrate
  • Have your children who are legal permanent residents automatically become citizens (if they are under 18)
  • Travel abroad
  • Work for the United States government

Eligibility to Become a Citizen:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You must have authorization to live and work in the U.S. on a permanent basis (informally known as a green card) for at least five years (or three years, if married to a United States citizen).
  • You must have continuous residence in the U.S. for at least five years (or three years, if married to a United States citizen) and be physically present in the U.S. for at least half that time.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English. There are language exceptions, disability exceptions, and accommodations.
  • Must have a knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of U.S. history and government.
  • You must be a person of “good moral character.”
  • You must take a loyalty oath to the United States and support the Constitution and form of government of the United States.

The application fee is $725.

**U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offers a fee waiver program and a reduced fee option to applicants who meet certain requirements. We can help you apply for this waiver.
