UFW Foundation: Gov. Newsom order on paid sick leave ‘fills in the gap’ in protecting food supply employees
UFW Foundation Executive Director Diana Tellefson Torres issued the following statement after announcement of Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order on worker sick pay:
Governor Newsom’s Executive Order on paid sick leave is critical because it will help reduce the spread of the global pandemic in the farm worker communities and in the essential food supply workforce.
Today’s order fills in the gap because now employers with more than 500 employees will also be required to provide sick pay.
