!LA LUCHA SIGUE! The Fight Continues!
After more than 5,000 people joined the farm workers’ grueling 24-day, 335-mile sacrificial “March for the Governor’s Signature” at the state Capitol, the United Farm Workers has kicked off a 24-hour-a-day “Vigil for the Governor’s Signature” in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fresno, and Sacramento.
The Vigils will be ongoing until Governor Gavin Newsom signs AB 2183 into law, which makes voting in union elections easier for farm workers and ensuring that they are free from intimidation and deportation by grower foremen, supervisors and farm labor contractors. The legislation has been amended to reflect the model the governor laid out to show what he wants to see in the bill.
