Impact Report (2023-2024)
Dear friends and supporters,
The UFW Foundation is proud to present our 2023-2024 Impact Report, a comprehensive report on all our activities and projects that we have been working on for the past year. We are incredibly proud of the work we did during this time, providing much needed programs, services, and advocacy for the immigrant and farm worker communities. All of this incredible work has been made possible through the support that you give to our organization. Your support is appreciated and much needed as we continue our mission of raising the voices of farm workers everywhere.
While the impact report is more detailed and offers more in-depth analysis of our activities during the 2023-2024 timeline, allow me to share some highlights.
- We kicked off 2023 with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) program, a federal grant program we advocated for, which was used to provide $600 relief payments to eligible farm and food workers who were negatively affected by the COVID’19 pandemic.
- We have advocated for serious systemic change to both labor and immigration systems, including:
- pushing for new rules for the H-2A Temporary Guest Workers Program proposed by the Departments of Labor and Homeland Security;
- pushing OSHA to release proposed new national heat standards for outdoor workers;
- advocating for new smoke rules for outdoor workers;
- fighting for the continuation of DACA and other immigration relief; and
- implementing and advocating for many other projects, programs, and policy initiatives throughout the year that benefit farm workers and immigrants throughout the country.
- We produced Farm Worker Voices, a video series we produced spotlighting the impact of climate change on farm workers. The five-part, one-minute episode docuseries highlights the stories of farm workers who are directly affected by climate change impacts, giving first-hand perspectives on the challenges farm workers confront and the resiliency they demonstrate in the face of adversity.
